I collect unique and old jade carvings. Carved jade bangles are really small jade carvings you can wear, so I will also include some of those.
This old jade three legged money toad is one of my favorite jade carvings. My supplier sent my some jade three legged money toads the size of my hand, but also this huge carving, which is 15 pounds, and measures 12" side to side and 8" high. It's two toads, a big one and a small one connected with a jade chain. He told me it was quite old. The coloring is spectacular. Jade three-legged money toads are special to feng shui. They should be located at the entrance door of the home, facing the "money area" (my office), so the fortune feng shui flows into the area.
You probably won't see any carvings like this in the US, although these are very popular in Asia. I sell smaller three legged jade money toads at affordable prices, priced not much higher than the plastic or resin ones. Very auspicious, and toad has brought me much good luck with my business.
This smaller jade carving is actually nephrite. Chinese nephrite is not easy to find any more as it has been mined out. I found this lady carving in a pawn shop in Las Vegas. The pawn shop people didn't know what it was, and gave me a 60% discount because they had it more than a year. She's 6" high and three dimensional, in a long dress and holding a mirror. The carving is simple, but very elegant. And she's slightly curved. When I first picked her up, she fit perfectly in the palm of my hand, my fingers wrapped around her as if she were made for me to hold with the four fingers wrapping around one side and my thumb resting at the should area. The qi energy is wonderful!
