Jade Bangles for Men

Can a man wear a jade bangle? Of course! A jade bangle is a very classy accessory for men, and looks great with a suit, showing just beneath the cuff of a shirt, or with casual clothes.

And here's an update. Several readers wondered how Ken got this bangle on his wrist. He wrote that it was with great effort: "it really hurt going on. If I was doing it I would of stopped but she kept going. The thumb knuckle was the worst and I really thought it was not going to make it. Finally it slipped past but still on the meaty part of my hand it was sticking. With a tad more effort she got in on My hand was sore for a week or so. I have been more careful with this one so I do not break it. Although there has been times where I wanted it off for a few minutes,,,,,and I have tried,,,but it is going nowhere.
Today is 2 months with it and it feels good void of the past annoyance."

Perhaps men's and women's hands are anatomically different because Ken's fits much closer than any bangle i've seen a woman put on. However, he added, " Are you saying that the women want their bangle closer to the wrist? Or they like it with more room? If they want it snug they just need to get a smaller size and endure the 5 minutes of pain. :o)". Oh, and we surely do!

Ken's New Jade Bangle

Most of the men who wear jade bangles prefer to wear them on their non-dominant wrist so that it gets less activity. Many women, including me, also wear their jade bangles on non-dominant wrists.

Most jade bangles for men are quite large size, usually starting at 65mm inside diameter. It's often difficult to find a good quality jade in this size, because the large sizes require more jade and a larger piece of the rough and therefore they are more expensive. Ying Yu Jade had Chinese jade carved especially for us in a large man's size so a man can purchase a good quality jade at a reasonable price, and have the good green classic color.

Thanks to our male jade model shown in the photos above. He told me that his wife bought a jade bangle that was too large, and while he was looking at it, he put it on, and it was very tight so he left it on, then discovered he really enjoyed wearing it. Chinese men have worn jade bangles for centuries as a symbol of wealth, prestige, and for good luck and health. They were traditionally worn on the left wrist which is close to the heart and stimulates the acupuncture points for keeping qi flowing smoothly for good health.

The new bangle is the tightest/smallest I have purchased yet, and I was hoping to get in on my left hand as that is my non-dominate hand, but it wouldn't fit so I settled on having it on my right hand which still took a good deal of force and soap as well as lotion to get it on, and pain. ;) It stayed on my right arm for about over a month, and then about the beginning of August I was bored and in the shower so, I took the bangle off my right arm which was a bit difficult but came off without too much incident with soap and a wash rag to help manipulate my hand in order to remove it.

I then soaped up my left hand (literally dripping with soap from fingers to wrist. I then took the bangle and tried on several attempts to get it on, but all failed with just my hand being very painful and sore from the attempts. Dishearten I decided to try one last time, but with slow but very detailed/controlled force with the wash rag to help manipulate as it goes on. (Getting past my knuckles and thumb was naturally the hardest part of this whole endeavor) By 3 minutes in it was up to my knuckles and quite painful and this point, but its the farthest I've gotten it on so far! I then got my thumb through with some more sharper pain, then I got it to the "meaty part' of the hand it was now extremely painful at this point. It was then that I just rammed the thing on, and I was about close to screaming at that point, but it was a success! The bangle was on and is the "closest fitting" bangle to the wrist I've ever worn to date. Its a good thing I really like this new bangle, because it is definitely on permanently whether I want it to be or not! :-)

I have included a picture of my 'new' bangle which is as I said on my left wrist, and despite my very active nature of swinging my hands and arms around, as well as being clumsy and ramming into walls and corners on occasion, the bangle has taken some hard hits, but has held up very well with no visible cracks or chips, and just a few minor surface scratches which are hardly noticeable unless looked extremely closely. This bangle is definitely my most favorite, and is truly a part of me... At least until it breaks, in which I'll be promptly getting a new one and starting the cycle over!

Jade bangles with carving are also good choices for men, as carved jade bangle bracelets are often more bold and have more jade in them for durability.
