This carved jadeite bangle has a wonderful combination of yin and yang. It's very old, a Qing Dynasty era jade bangle bracelet. The jade carver would choose an auspicious day to begin carving the jade. He spent a great
deal of time studying the jade stone, the grain, the color, and any flaws he would want to take advantage of to enhance and disguise.
The color of this jade is pale green with grayish hues and has some veins of "hong" honey or Chinese red color. The vein color is caused by minerals in the stone which sometimes leave clarification lines that look like cracks,
but are not true cracks or damage. This shows the jadeite is genuine, natural and not color treated. The jade
carver used the "hong" for part of the bamboo carving and to carve one of the lingzhi "immortal plants" hong, and then the bat (symbol of happiness) and lucky coin with the hong color (first photo on my wrist). There's another bat and Chinese writing for happiness, longevity and good health, luck and good fortune.
The size is perfect for me, 53mm, flat inside and 13.3mm wide. Substantial inside to outside for durability, lots of jade stone used to make it. The polish is silky smooth, which takes much talent by the jade carver because polishing a carved bangle without damaging the carving is quite a skill.
Green color jade is related to the liver meridian, and balances the blood and general wellness of the body. The
yin soft shade of the green calms my spirit, helps with meditation and mindfulness practices. When one feels
anger and violence, it's oftenbecause the liver meridian is unbalanced.
This jade bangle is one of the first jade bangle bracelets I purchased and is one of my favorites. It has a very high value, more than $35,000. I was reluctant to wear it because of its value, but the value it adds to my body, mind
and spirit is priceless.
