Album Tuesday is the final day for you to shop before our store closes until March 26. And the final Daily Special for March. I'm really looking forward to my trip, but it's always a little sad for me to leave all my jades! I already have a pile of work on my desk to deal with as soon as I return. Thanks to all of you for reading the blog, and asking questions. I rely on your questions for blog topics. The blog has been going for three years, and it's amazing I can always find something about jade to blog about! March 8 I received an email today asking if xrays affect jade. It seems that a woman noticed a crack in her jade bangle bracelets after getting xrays. The xrays were not directly on the jade, but she wondered if having the xray affected the jade. She had been wearing the jade bangle for a couple years and is usre she would have noticed the crack if it had been there before the xrays. It's unlikely an xray tech would ever directly xray a jade bangle, rather they would insist the bangle be removed before the xray. Xrays probably would affect jade, probably the color of the jade. However, xrays are damaging to the human body. While sometimes it's necessary to get an xray to diagnose a problem, the xrays are still damaging to the body. From a Chinese standpoint, I would say the jade protected the woman from the harm of the xray, and took the damage to itself, which manifested as a crack. She had worn the jade bangle all the time and it had become part of her. Jade truly does protect the person who wears it. But I had never heard about jade protecting from xrays and showing in a crack. Very interesting, but jade is always fascinating. March 7 Customers often ask me to infuse their jade with qi prior to shipping. They want to know what it means, and how it occurs. As a Reiki master and qi healer, I'm trained in energy healing. The energy healing involves balancing the body energy that illness, stress, lifestyle knocks off balance. "Regular" medicine often discounts this kind of healing, but more often they are developing treatments that use energy balancing. For example, I read an article about treating migraine headache with aura with magnetic therapy to balance the body chemistry, and the study involved small units patients took home with them to apply at first awareness of aura. This kind of treatment is similar to qi healing because the qi healer, who keeps their own body energy in balance through regular qigong, tai chi practice, uses their balanced body energy to help the patient bring their energy into balance. That's a simple explanation, for me it has been a 12 year study and practice. So when I infuse qi into a jade piece, I hold the jade during my daily meditation and push universal healing qi energy into the jade. This infusing with qi is the same thing that happens when you wear jade and your qi goes into the jade to make it more beautiful and bright as you wear it. If you are balanced and healthy, your jade becomes nicer, and when you ill, not balanced, you don't see this and your jade may look dull. Often jade bangle bracelet wearers tell me they can tell when they are getting ill by the way their jade looks. Anyway, that's a simple explanation for the fascinating healing properties of qi, and jade qi. March 5 I always welcome recommendations for the "Daily Special" because I want to sell what YOU want to buy! When someone recommends a Daily Special, I usually give them "first shot" at buying it at the discounted price. So if there's something you'd like to see at a discount, let me know, click the "earth" and you get priority on purchasing it. March 3 We've had some warmer days here in central Florida, and I've been working outside cleaning up foliage that was frozen and turned brown. When I was trimming a gardenia bush, it seems like my jade bangle bracelet was glowing with beautiful, natural color. When it was cold, it seemed to have lost some of its sea-green color, and looked more white and gray, but now that it's warmer, and in the daylight more, the color has come back to its normal and natural color again. The green has become more green. This is how genuine and natural jadeite looks. The jade qi and your body qi take on each other, and you and your jade both become more beautiful.
