When we first started selling jade online, and this still happens today, I get many offers to purchase jade items from Chinese sellers. I had been going to China to buy for YYJ every summer, and had a reliable jade supplier who I met and worked a good relationship. But I was offered some absolutely gorgeous jade bangles from an unknown seller in the Guangzhou area, and decided to buy some. I didn't get jade. I got these erotic "art" pieces instead. I have a few pieces remaining and as I am moving towards downsizing the web site, today these are half price. Click the "order" to see the half price show in your shopping cart. Memorial weekend is here and summer really begins. Most of us jade lovers wear our jade all the time. We love the beauty and good qi energy
of jade, and you can wear jade all the time, including bathing, and it will be fine if it is natural A grade. You can even wear it in the pools, hot tubs,
when you clean and use chemicals, and when you are outdoors and sweat and get sunblock on it. BUT....don't let it set in the sun. If you sunbathe take your jade off or cover it up. Direct sun is like a heat treatment that will change your jade. Jade likes to be in mine-like conditions: cool, dark, and moist. Living in Florida, I wear my jade all the time and am active and spend much time outdoors. While I never sit directly in the sun, and I always wear sunblock, my jade is never in the sun for long. I can feel when the coolness leaves it and it starts to get very warm, and immediately move my wrist to shade. So wear your jade in the summer, don't be concerned if it spends some time in the sun, but be aware that sun exposure will damage your jade, not only the appearance but also the qi energy. And sorry to say, sun block products do not protect jade. May 23

Ying Yu Jade started selling jade online in the year 2000. I was working full time and had a three day weekend to add jade bangle bracelets and
pendants to the original Calm Spirit web site. I had 15 Chinese jade bangle bracelets and 15 Chinese jade pendants, and didn't know if anyone would be interested in jade. My first customer was a Vietnamese woman, who traded me her too-small jade bangle bracelets for larger sizes, and some of her collection is still in the vintage jade section. I was going to keep them for myself when my wrist got bigger as I aged, but the jade I wear on my wrist must keep it healthy, because I still wear size 51-53mm. I was nervous that I would never be able to sell "all those jade pieces".
YYJ was one of the first jade web sites in USA that sold real, natural and genuine jade and jadeite and my commitment was to treat customers the way I want to be treated and see if I could compete with fake jades being sold from China. I fell in love with jade when I was on the plane to China in 1999 for my first trip, and saw the first jade bangle on a Chinese woman. I had to get "just one" for myself. On my second trip to China two
months later, I bought quite a few jade bangles and pendants, and put them on ebay. That's where I discovered that most of the jade on ebay
wasn't real jade, or was C grade, and I wanted Western and American woman to know how wonderful genuine natural jade is, and be able to purchase from a USA seller. In 2004 I was able to leave my job, and do this jade business as a full time job. I had spent every extra dollar I made while I was working to purchase mostly jadeite bangle bracelets and pendants, because the prices kept increasing and I wanted a big inventory
when I didn't have a "real job" any more. I still have some of those, they have become more valuable because of their quality which is better than the quality of jadeite is today. So as I am working on "retiring" the jade business, I am putting on some of the very best jades to get them all finally listed, and give jade loving customers the opportunity to purchase jades they will probably not find anywhere else, because of their age and quality. The new vintage jade collection is listed, and will be offered at low preview prices until May 21. They have been cleaned, polished and cleansed
qi energetically. These are from an estate of a world traveling woman who loved jade, in the 1940's. Some have 14k gold. And some pieces, including the cabochon jadeite in the ring, were set in gold in Germany. So it's a unique kind of collection. There are even some items that are
not jade, but unique and fun! I was personally tempted by them, so thought you might be, too! Vintage jade can be very valuable if it is properly maintained, kept in a cool, dark and moist environment, like jade's home in the jade mine. Or it can be a very valuable piece that was neglected and dried out, light damaged. I've learned some "ancient Chinese secrets" for restoring jade to the best it can be, which includes the energetic cleansing, because of jade's qi energy this is an important characteristic of the appearance.Click here to view the collection. I brought back some beautiful vintage jade pieces after visiting family this past weekend. When I sell "real" vintage jade, I try to get as much history about it to share with you, so you can learn about the era, the area it came from and perhaps some other personal history along with it. When YYJ becomes my "hobby" instead of business, these vintage jades will be a mainstay of the inventory I will keep. Old pieces like this are so rare and unique and they are for true jade lovers. You can visit our present collection, click here. Last month I was watching an Antiques Roadshow program that ended with some vintage jade jewelry and carvings. The people we were watching the show with thought I was crazy when I was predicting what the value would be, and why it would have that value. They had no idea old jade could be so valuable. My guess was very close to the value given by the expert on the show. But the prices on YYJ vintage jade are much lower than real value, because I want to see this jade being used, enjoyed and not just locked in a safe. Short trip to visit our families, including my mother, later this week. The store will close evening May 7, and open May 10. I am hoping the waiting in the airport and plane ride will give me time to think about some ideas for good bargains for customers as we work through our goal of downsizing and "retiring" both YYJ and JBB. Instead of the original plan to sell the JBB web site, I would rather give customers the opportunity to purchase at discounts on JBB, and keep the premium jades on YYJ, as they will continue to grow in value as genuine and natural jade becomes more rare (and unfortunately, fake).And I think I will be
returning home with some very old estate jade, quite different from anything on our vintage pages. So keep watching the sites! May 5
