web sites are secure. You will notice when you click on the "order"
or "add to cart" that you go to a web site that starts with
the security address "https". The automated shopping cart system
is located on a secure server and your payment information is safe. An
added feature is we subscribe to a security system, Security Metrics,
that tests our site make sure it can't be hacked. The third security feature
is in our credit card processing service, that checks the actual credit
card information to make sure it is valid and rejects fraud. If you get
a message that your credit card purchase was denied, be sure to contact
your credit card company, because the name
"Ying Yu Jade" sounds suspicious as it might be outside of the
country, and they are protecting you and need to hear from you that your
charge is valid. So have fun shopping, and know that your online purchase

Sometimes I receive a photo with a request to look at it and give an opinion if the color is natural or color enhanced. I decided that it's time to write an article about it, and post it in the Resource section of the web site. Click here to read the new article. Since the jade mines closed for political and economic reasons, there's very little natural color "fancy" jadeites available, and the jade carvers are improving their color enhancing skills. The price for color treated jade used to be cheaper than "A" grade jade, but now with less jade available, and so many people preferring the deeper green, lavender and fancier colored jades, the prices for color treated jade are often higher than natural jade. If you wear jade a costume jewelry, not all the time but when it "goes" with an outfit, it doesn't matter if it's color treated, but keep in mind that the bleaching to remove the original color makes the jade more brittle and it's not as strong. But if you wear jade all the time, and for health, happiness and good luck, then you want to know that your jade is "A" natural and genuine jadeite. I'm starting to get feed back on the new jade product, acupressure massage ring. From Susan: "Got to tell you. I was "playing" with the acupressure ring yesterday evening and I find it to be amazing on my fingers and hands. I've been experiencing a couple of joint and muscle pains; probably from arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. After using the ring for 1/2 hour, the stiffness and soreness were greatly improved. With such amazing results, I became anxious and took the second ring to use on the other hand simultaneously". Shipping rates for USPS and UPS are increasing the first business day of 2010. I'm going to try to keep YYJ shipping rates the same, although I haven't raised them the last two times the USPS and UPS raised theirs. I prefer to wait and see what the actual shipping will be, then decide. Anytime there's a free shipping sale, that's a big value to you, because the average shipping charge is $10-12. Tomorrow's Daily Special is free shipping when you use Paypal and purchase $250 jewelry items. My shopping cart isn't sophisticated enough to know how to do that, so your shipping is refunded when your order is processed. I can't refund shipping with standard credit card payments, but can do it with Paypal. So get some more items out of your shopping cart and save with shipping. We're in our "holiday mode" for shipping now. We use the USPS postal service for most of our shipping, which keeps your shipping costs lower, but it has its problems. Every order is being wrapped with extra packing to keep it safe. Most orders are shipped in a box. And orders $100+ will be mailed with signature confirmation, so your mail carrier must get a signature, and the purpose is so that your package doesn't get left at someone else's address. All parcels are shipped with delivery confirmation, and it's upsetting to the customer and to me when the customer reports they did not get their order, and the delivery confirmation shows that it was indeed delivered. This happens more during the holiday season, so we're taking precautions by using signature confirmation to avoid the problem. Keep in mind that with more mail and packages in the USPS system, it might take longer for your order to arrive. Plan ahead. Or use the Express Mail option if you need your order right away. If your order is placed by 6 PM EST, it will be mailed the next day. I ship as quickly as I can, because I treat customers as I want to be treated, and I like to get my orders fast! Instead of a one day "Black Friday" sale, YYJ will offer more relaxed shopping with special savings this week. If you made a Wish List, this week is the time to get your items, or give your Wish List to someone to shop for you. To make a Wish List, log into your account, and click on your favorite items. There is an option to add to your Wish List on the lower right of the page. A Wish List makes it easy for someone to shop for you, because you have already chosen what you really want, and if it's a jade bangle bracelet, your buyer can get your correct size because you have already added it to your List. You can make a Wish List anytime. If you don't have a Wish List, you can still save on your orders this week. The Weekly Special is a fabulous beaded bag free with a $800+ jade bangle order. One of my favorite jade people commented on reading that the jade used in the Olympic gold medals was Hetian jade. It's true that there's a lot of conflicting information, because of the language translation to English and that "jade" in China means many different kinds of jade. Hetian jade is located in Xinjiang, and Uygar autonomous region in northwest China, and there's a lot of political tension there between the Chinese and Uygar muslim people. The government often refers to them as terrorists, and foreigners are not allowed to travel to Xinjiang. The longest train trip I take for jade is 17 hours overnight from Beijing, and Xinjiang would be at least twice as far. My jade friend in China went to Xinjiang twice, because he told me that he would feel confident that he bought genuine Hetian jade only at their jade market. The first time was several years ago, he bought 15 Hetian jade bangles for me which I sold almost as soon as I listed them. The second time was a few months ago, and the prices were more than I gave him as my top price, so he purchased only a few pieces for himself. He sent me photos of the jade market there, which showed not only beautiful jade, but fabulous workmanship of the jade carving. Hetian jade was used in the third place Olympic medal, and a nephrite was used in first place, another lighter green Chinese jade for second place. If you own a piece of genuine Hetian jade, you have a real treasure. November 20
I listed a modern "flat" style Chinese jade bangle bracelet I had recently received in the 58mm size, and while I was putting them away, I slipped on one that's my size 53mm. I took off my jadeite bangle because I was working and didn't want two jade bangles clinking together. I forgot to take it off, and this morning when I got up my wrist felt pleasantly tingly, I had slept well, and I felt very calm and peaceful. The jade bangle was glowing. I have my pick of the most expensive, finest quality jadeite bangles, but I love the energy of the Chinese jade. These were the first jade bangles and pendants I started Ying Yu Jade with in 2000, my inventory fit into a shoe box. The Chinese jade from Xiuyan is China's national jade, the kind of jade they have used for centuries. Jadeite was introduced in the late 19th century, and the Chinese still love their indiginous jade. In fact, that's the jade they used to make the medals for the 2008 Olympics. If you don't have a Chinese jade bangle or pendant, try one. They are the true, original "Chinese jade". November 19
Several readers spent their "sick day" with the flu looking through the jade bangles to cheer them up, and I have received several emails from readers telling me that prior to their getting the flu, their jade didn't look very good. One reader told me she wondered if someone had switched jade bangles with her because her jade was very dull and it looked dirty, but she had cleaned it and it still didn't look right. Then she woke up with the flu. When you wear genuine, natural jade every day, it really does show your body qi condition. When you are well, happy, healthy, your jade looks bright and has an inner glow. I noticed the same thing with my jade bangle last weekend when I thought I might be getting the flu, even changed jade bangles to a more "yin" peaceful jade to help balance the yang of my coughing, but it looked dull after I wore it. Today I feel very good, my jade is glowing, bright and nicely translucent. So pay attention to your jade. Jade qi and body qi work together, the jade benefits from your qi, and you benefit from the jade qi. My body sucked the healing energy out of my jade bangle to help me get more well. When I'm traveling in China, I like to take the train. And I usually choose "hard seat" so I can travel with regular Chinese people. Chinese people are usually very friendly to foreigners, Americans, and we do our best to have conversation. I can speak some Chinese, and I comprehend more than I can speak. Most Chinese people in "hard seat" class don't speak English, but they enjoy that I do speak Chinese a little and try to have a conversation. They are always interested in my "American things", my luggage and what's in it, and mostly what's in my handbag. The women make a great effort to take a peek and I am as curious about them. I make it a point to carry small candies (Hershey kisses, tootsie rolls) and those cosmetic samples, so when we are "showing", I have something to share. I gave an older woman a small box of cereal when we were sharing snacks, and she reached into her pocket and gave me a round jade "thing", and showed me how to use it on all my fingers to stimulate the acupuncture points for hand massage. I carry this with me a lot, and use it for hand massage, and enjoy the feel of the qi of the jade as well as the treatment. I used to get migraine headaches frequently and would use one of the points on it to press a point in my palm to get relief. A few months ago I took a photo of it and sent it to my associate in China, who knew what it was, and had some made for me. They are the "Weekly Special" this week. So many of us are always looking for that "perfect jade bangle". We buy a new jade bangle, are thrilled with it, then after a few weeks we are already looking for another one! Jade makes us feel wonderful, so of course we want more. I finally figured out the reason why we will never find that perfect jade bangle bracelet. Part of the reason is that our own qi energy changes all the time, so jade energy that might have been good for us when we were younger feels to "yang" for us as we get older, and we prefer softer color, more "yin". High energy jade in jade doesn't agree with everyone. The other part of the reason I found when reading a historical novel. There is a saying in Asia that people use when the best laid plans don't work out, or even though we plan and work hard, things don't work out the way we intended and don't meet our expectations. The saying is "even jade has flaws". Any comments? November 12
I was doing an inventory of silk pouches for the jade eggs sets and saw a bag I didn't know what was in it. A big surprise, 5 jadeite bangle bracelets in my size 52-53mm. When I get new bangles, I allow myself to keep only 5 of every 100, and then I hide them in my work room, and forget about them. Then it's a big surprise when I find them, which means I get to pick out a new bangle to wear. I had been thinking I needed a white jade bangle to wear to calm myself, as it's getting close to the holidays and I have more business as well as more personal-social things to do, and I want to calmly and serenely enjoy both the work and social obligations. White jade has energy for peace, calm spirit, compassion: exactly what I need right now. It has a big vein of imperial green and some smaller imperial green veins, on translucent white and is a17mm wide "cuff", so lots of jade to balance my body qi energy. I added it to my "what bangle am I wearing" page. I like to wear a jade bangle all the time for as long as the energy "works" for me, because I think that's the best way to wear jade. So, if you also feel the need for peace, compassion, wear your white jade now. November 10
It's always so upsetting when you crack or damage a favorite jade bangle. DId you know there is a Chinese belief, that when a bangle gets a chip, crack, or breaks, it means that the jade protected the person who wore it. Maybe your jade protected you some way. I've been wearing jade bangles for more than 10 years, and I often take the jade bangles that I get that are cracked and wear them myself. Cracks don't bother me, they are part of nature. What I have noticed, is that if you drop a jade bangle on a hard surface, it often breaks. But sometimes you hit it, not very hard, and it already has cracks, I think the small cracks take some of the pressure off the roundedness of the bangle, because there is a lot of pressure on the stone when it is carved rounded. And then with the pressure off, it's actually a little stronger and can stand up to more unfortunate accidental whacks. I have never had a cracked jade bangle break while I was wearing it. These cracks I'm discussing are cracks from damage, not from the natural formation of the jadeite, and there is a big difference. You can click here to see what that difference is. The second day of our cruise, I looked at my jade bangle that I wear all the time and noticed that it didn't look as good. The lighter part of the jade looked gray, the green wasn't bright, and there was no inner glow. And I didn't feel very well. I was kind of nauseous from the ship movement, and feeling rushed because we had friends aboard and activities, shore excursions, we planned together, and I was feeling stressed. My jade was reflecting my health. I skipped the next day's shore excursions and told my husband I was going to photograph his first (and last!) parasailing from the ship. I did almost an hour of tai chi and yoga on my cabin veranda, enjoyed the almost-empty ship in peace, as almost everyone was ashore, and I had one of the pools to myself. I put on my SeaBands and the nausea went away. SeaBands stimulate the acupuncture point that relieves motion sickness, and they really work. By the time I dressed for dinner, I saw my jade bangle glowing again, looking beautiful. Jade that you wear all the time really does reflect your health.
