The secret sea cove is a short distance from Outstanding in the Field founder Jim Denevan's favorite sand drawing beach. Last year guests enjoyed an unusual multi-course dinner prepared by chef Lewis Rossman of Cetrella. On a very warm, windless day we placed our farm table right up along the breaking surf, beside a spectacular 100 ft vertical cliff. If the Pacific winds arrive this year we will position the table in a protected cove with a breathtaking view of a natural sea-arch. This year we are pleased to have chef Jennifer Biesty of Coco500 restaurant in San Francisco, a 2007 StarChefs Rising Star Chef. Fisherman Hans Haveman will bring Jennifer the day's catch from offshore waters. Andrew McLester of Real Wines Co. will pour wines from a variety of Santa Cruz mountain vintners.
Outstanding in the Field events feature a leisurely tour of the
hosting farm followed by a five course, farm-style dinner at our long table set in a scenic spot. Dinner is accompanied by a wine paired with each course. Diners are joined at the table by the farmer, food producers, a winemaker and other local artisans associated with the meal.
