Ying Yu Jade web hosting company has moved the YYJ web pages and "store" to a new server over the weekend. The server has the latest technology and security for shopping cart check out. We had to change the links from the web pages to the shopping cart secure pages for 863 products! If you click an "order" and it doesn't respond or does something strange, let us know because the web master needs that feedback to keep everything running smoothly. Thanks, and we hope you enjoy the easier, speedier check out on our new, safe and secure server. May 31 The hand knit
scarfs with jade bangle scarf holders have sold fast. Customers have requested
to purchase the scarf without the small jade bangle scarf holder because
of it being heavy for these hot months, so we are adding a yarn hand loomed
flower with a jade bead center on elastic to make it unique and give us
our jade fix. And we are offering the option to purchase a small 38mm
Chinese "water" jade bangle to use as a scarf holder when you
make your purchase, a $38 value only $15 when you purchase a scarf. None
of us can be talked into modeling for the scarfs, so we are using "Kitty
Boyd" to model, hoping to show more of the detail of the yarn and
the "flower" with the jade center. These are not only new and
unique products to add to YYJ inventory, but also YYJ is helping the economy
by creating a job for a USA citizen by adding her product and jazzing
it up with jade. It's no surprise that the overwhelming response for weekend Memorial Day special is jade bangle bracelets sale. So here's your chance to buy one, and get one at 25% discount, equal or less value of items BB. NJ, BC on Ying Yu Jade or JBB on JadeBangleBracelets web site. And Saturday you have the option to get a third jade bangle at 25% off. If you are reading this, you don't have to wait until Saturday, you can get your jade bangles now, click here to use the form. Lucky you, you can make your own weekend special! May 27 We got really behind in our work and planning during the past week with the high volume of jade roller sales. Usually by the Thursday before a holiday weekend we have some really great specials. Our scarf knitter has some new scarfs ready and has added jade bangles as scarf holders/decoration so we finally got those listed. We don't have our photography for those worked out yet and the photos are not as good as we would like, so the "real thing" will be a lot nicer. If you have suggestions what you would like to see for holiday weekend specials, click the "earth" above, let us know. It is "jade chaos" in our office and work area, we are slightly brain dead, and can use all the imagination we can get! May 25 Some woman would dearly love to be able to wear a jade bangle, but for certain reasons cannot. A customer who has worn a jade bangle most of her adult life was heartbroken because she was receiving medical treatments that meant she couldn't wear her jade bangle. But she wanted the good qi energy of jade, and especially the healing aspect of the jade rubbing against the acupressure points on her wrist. She purchased a jade bead bracelet, and although she still misses that solid cuff of jade on her wrist, she is happier, healthier wearing jade again. A long-time customer recently purchased a jade bead necklace and took the beads off to apply the beads to patches she made for lesions on her arms and legs, to help heal them. Jade lovers are very creative with their jades, and will go to any lengths to wear jade. Do you have a story to share? Click the "earth" above. May 24 I have been asked why I can't get sizes other than 60mm, and larger, for the Chinese jade bangles, espeically the "river" jades and the new ones. The northern Chinese jade carvers are getting older, getting ready to retire, and because of the "one child policy" have sacrificed to send their one child (preferably a boy) to college and to pursue a high paying job in the new Chinese economy. So the jade carvers are becoming fewer which is a reason jade prices are increasing. And since the jade carvers are getting ready to retire, they are not replacing their carving tools when they break, and the most common sizes, the Chinese size, is the 53-58mm size. They still have the larger size tools, so those are the only sizes I can get. Two lessons here: jade carvers retiring will mean higher prices of jade; and if you see smaller sizes in the Chinese jade, get them while you can. May 23 I was delighted to find a slightly different kind of Chinese jade bangle bracelet in my shipment. They are from a new jade rough found near the "river jade" mine and have a combination of some of the lovely natural colors of honeys and charcoals along with the good green color of the Chinese "water" jade. That's the good news. The bad news is there are only a few, and they are all about 59-60mm. So if you want one, get it while it's available, and some will be Daily Specials Monday. May 22 The orders for jade rollers are still coming in. Yesterday I received my DHL shipment of Chinese jade and I unpacked everything, lots of "river jade" bangle bracelets, cute little Chinese jade baby bangles, and thankfully more jade eggs and ben wa balls. I can barely keep those in stock, they have become very popular and even more mainstream. My personal physician ordered some for her sister who just had a baby. More jade rollers coming next week. AND YES, the price of jade is going up and our US dollar buying power going down, so the prices will definitely have to be raised. I'm so very busy with getting the jade rollers out now, so it's a good time to buy Chinese jade things before I have the time to raise the prices! May 20 Today orders started coming in for jade rollers, and kept coming, and more came in so I did an online search to find out who's been talking up jade rollers. Dr Oz did a segment with Maoshing Ni, a Chinese Medicine doctor who specializes in Alternative Medicine. He said that Ancient Chinese Medication is more accessible now than it used to be and people are becoming more and more interested in it as the price of medications and drugs increases. The four Ancient Chinese Remedies that Doctor Oz discussed include Schizandra Berry, a Jade Roller, Jujube Seeds and Magnolia Bark. So YYJ got a good publicity for the jade rollers and it's fortunate for me that I am jade addicted and have too much jade so I have a good supply. The jade rollers have always been good sellers, since we started selling them in 2000. They are pure and natural Chinese jade, the kind of jade Chinese people have been using for centuries. Of course they are good for you! We also sell them in a "wrinkle reducer kit" which I developed with a Chinese spa doctor, and use personally. Try one. May 19 I'm very fond
of bamboo and it's even our logo. The bamboo is the most popular plant
in China. Every village in Southern China is surrounded by bamboo groves.
To be Chinese is to feel at home with bamboo. The drooping bamboo leaves
cross one another, as if they are composing the Chinese character "An"
(tranquility). For the wandering traveler writing letters back home, to
include a bamboo leaf is to say, "I am fine, I hope that everyone
in the family is enjoying peace." One of today's specials is a small
jadeite carving of bat (symbol of happiness) and bamboo (journey). One
only. May 18 We've been selling the jade combs since we started selling jade more than 10 years ago, and I've seen people in China use them mostly on short hair (boys and men) but I've considered them more a novelty than a utilitarian item. Last weekend I got my shoulder length hair cut really short (too short but it will grow) and today when I was filling an order for a jade comb I decided to try it. I could never use it on my longer wavy thick hair, but it works on my short hair, and makes my scalp feel good. Makes sense, using pure natural jade would be good for the scalp. But it sure isn't for styling! I think it's impossible to polish between the "teeth" of the comb so they would be really smooth, because there's no way a polishing tool is going to get between those teeth and not break them. So use for scalp stimulation and good head qi, but use something else for final styling May 17 A jade-loving friend recently purchased pieces of jade for her husband and two teenagers, and she reported that they all love their jades and wear them all the time. She had written about the jade she bought for herself, a very calming and peaceful jade to help balance her during stressful times, and her family situation is often stressful (two teenagers? Of course!) and she hoped all the jade in the family would be beneficial for everyone. She's feeling more calm in her family now, and we hope it continues. When I "go to work", I am surrounded by wonderful jade: the inventory that is on the web site, numbered and stored where I can easily find it; and the pieces that are spread out on my desk that need to get photographed, or put on the web site. Right now I'm looking at two little jadeite turtles, perfect to carry in a pocket, and when I touch them the jade qi feels good and I always, always think about each piece "maybe I should keep this one". The jade we sell is the kind of jade I would keep for myself or share with family and friends. In China, it's considered the best of luck to be in the jade business. I agree. May 16 Thanks for your response regarding our YYJ exclusive items. The knit and "trellis yarn" necklaces and scarves are one of the hottest spring fashion accessories, and adding jades to them make the "look" very unique. We will be adding a few new exclusive items this week as Daily Specials to get feedback. Also, the price will be kept really low so if you think you would like one, get one when you see it because hand made things are truly one of a kind. When I was in Pittsburgh last weekend and window shopping some of the specialty stores I saw these kind of knit scarves selling for $30-40. The "fancy" yarns, like trellis and ladder, are extremely beautiful yarns and because of the double strings very difficult to knit and work with, and then they are also difficult to photograph because of all the intertwining of the yarns and colors, so we hope you try one to see how nice "the real thing" is in person. By the way, the feedback form is working again, you can click the "earth" above to leave feedback. We had to remove the form for awhile due to getting spammed! May 15 I hope you noticed the hand knit light summer-weight scarves with the accessory of a little jade bangle scarf holder to give you a unique and different appearance. The scarves are knit here in the USA and the knitter didn't have an outlet, and I thought a tiny jade bangle to wear with it would be cute, so we put the scarf with a bangle and made a "YYJ Exclusive". The jade bangle is tied through with yarn so the opening is very small to hold the scarf. There are lots of different ways to wear them together, you can have fun making it different each time you wear it. The knitter uses "fancy" yarns, like trellis, "grass" (cotton linen blend that looks like grass) and "butterfly. At this time the jade bangles are not really wear-able, but in my next shipment from China I'm getting 42mm Chinese "water jade" baby bangles, so they will be really pretty. The knitter is also working on a knitted "necklace" and I wore one recently with a jade baby bangle knotted to hold it, and got a lot of good comments. And that's why there's not many available to sell on YYJ, because when someone sees it while we're working on them, they buy it right then and there. The knitters need a little extra cash during these tough economic times, and YYJ has been fortunate to not go out of business during the recession, so we're working together to make life better for all of us, including YOU when you wear one of these! May 13 Most of my girlfriends
have a jade bangle from my inventory. Imagine being able to root through
boxes of jade bangles to choose the perfect jade bangle for yourself!
They love them, wear them often. And get comments on them. They are good
advertising for me because they are noticed, and the next question is
"where can I get one of those!" If you refer a friend through
the weekend, and she purchases something, let me know and I'll give you
a coupon based on the amount of her purchase, I was flipping through TV stations last night and landed on HSN shopping channel and they were having a "jade of yesterday" special. It was confusing because they kept focusing on the European style of the jade pieces. European? The show host was featuring lavender jade earrings and said that lavender jade is everyone's favorite. She made it clear that all the jade in the show was Chinese jade, and it was all dyed. And it was pretty, looked very natural. There's nothing wrong with color treated jade. I think the Lantos law is still in effect which bans the import of Burmese jadeite into the USA and some other countries and a big business like HSN is surely not going to import jadeite, but will use the Chinese jade which in the past has not had a history of being color treated. All of our jade was imported and purchased before the jadeite embargo, as we have been buying and hoarding it for years not because we knew there was going to be an embargo, but because prices kept increasing. A customer who purchased a jadeite bangle recently told me she was glad we were located in the USA because she purchased jadeite from a Hong Kong website and it was confiscated in customs inspection. I think the Lantos law is mostly ignored now, but there is still a statement on the US customs web site about jadeite that if you take or wear jadeite when you leave the USA, you must go to customs in advance of your departure and have it documented and certified so it doesn't get confiscated if found on you when you return. Seems like there are other things our government should be concerned about than jadeite. The Lantos Law was originally passed to punish Burma/Myanmar by not allowing it's gas and oil to be exported, but by the time the lobbyists got done with their complaints, the end result was the ban on jadeite and gems from Myanmar. And that's why I haven't been on a shopping trip in a couple of years. May 11 We're back! We had a good trip visiting relatives, but sure happy to be home. I usually take 2-3 jade bangles with me when I travel because I might want to wear one other than my every day bangle. But I tried to travel light, and my soft color green jadeite bangle looks good with everything I wear. It showed its beautiful green veins here in Florida, but didn't look good at all in Ohio when I was suffering from Ohio allergies, and brightened up in PA when we smudged a house with sage to cleanse it. Sometimes customers tell me that the jade they purchased doesn't look the same as the photo, and I'm sure part of the reason is it loses its good qi in transit and may show poor health of the person who wears it. My jade is happy to be in Florida again, where jade looks so good with the heat and humidity. May 10 Happy May! May is my favorite month of the year and the "birthday" of Calm Spirit/Ying Yu Jade that started in 2008. Today is the final day of the fundraiser for the American Red Cross for disaster relief in the US south. All proceeds from the sale of the "Peace" jadeite bangle will be donated to the cause. Also, YYJ and JBB and Calm Spirit will close the evening of May 3 for about a week so if you need any gifts for Mother's Day, now is the time to get them. And you will have the good feeling of knowing that part of your purchase is helping others. The Calm Spirit / Ying Yu Jade complete May newsletter is available online now, click here. This month features Chinese medicine wellness information for May regarding balance of body, mind and spirit. There is information about what kind of jade to wear this month if you wear jade for your health, and more. |
