Chef Lenny Russo of Heartland Restaurant returns for his second Outstanding in the Field Dinner teaming up with co-chef Scott Pampuch of The Corner Table. We will set the table at Cedar Summit Farm in New Prague, Minnesota, not far from the twin cities. In 2005, Outstanding in the Field founder Jim Denevan inadvertantly missed the Minnesota farm dinner. Jim was stranded with the broken down bus after a very remote farm dinner in Alaska. Outstanding staff Katy Oursler, Natalie Mock and Barry Boullion ventured ahead as Jim stayed with the bus in the Far North.
Cedar Summit Farm has been in the Minar family since 1926. Dave and Florence Minar tell the rich story of a historic farm. For our 2005 dinner, we set the table among the vines at Alexis Bailly Vineyard in Hastings, Minnesota. In 2008 we will again pour Minnesota's finest. Jim is not going to miss this one.
Outstanding in the Field events feature a leisurely tour of the
hosting farm followed by a five course, farm-style dinner at our long table set in a scenic spot. Dinner is accompanied by a wine paired with each course. Diners are joined at the table by the farmer, food producers, a winemaker and other local artisans associated with the meal.
